Jacksonville Bike Fest

Unrealcycles is proud to announce our support for the local Jacksonville 150th anniversary Bikefest presented by Echelon Events.

On the calendar will be a Super D on April 24th, followed by a Downhill on April 25th.

The Registration form and schedule is available CLICK HERE

For general information about the event background, location, and how to help out with trail work CLICK HERE

The event follows 1 week after the Sea Otter Festival, and so Unrealcycles will have a full turnout including all the demo bikes featured at the Otter (including some products not seen before in the US).

If you are thinking of traveling to the event, let us know and we will add you to our support roster for the weekend.

Product News

Unrealcycles is always looking for new and exciting product lines which we can offer exclusively within the US.

Recently we have also been in negotiation with two new companies for exclusive access to their products for the US market.

One is a well known brand in the Triathlon world, the other a European manufacturuer of high quality mountain bikes.

We hope to be able to make a formal launch of both of these brands very soon, and have demo models available at Sea Otter in April.

Other news, following discussions with two of our existing brands, resulted in an extension of our exclusivity for Genius and Grammo in the US and Canada.

With the Taipei show coming up fast, watch out for new products from both lines, including several new wheel options, frames and accessories.

We will try and get some spy shots this week.

Vuelta News

The clearance deals on 2009 model Vuelta wheels are now coming to a close.

We have limited numbers of Corsa Superlight Clinchers left at the clearance price, and we are down to the last two pairs of the 50mm Carbon/Aluminum clinchers, with the 50T and 50C models already sold out.

On the plus side the 2010 models will be available in around 3 weeks.

New graphics and some new models will be featured in the 2010 line.

On the down side the US gov has increased duties on many bicycle related items meaning higher prices to the consumer.

You know we will work as hard as we can to make sure that you get the best deals available!

The message today is, act now if you are looking for wheels, as prices are going up!

Also if you are looking to pimp out your Urban Fixie, Vuelta have a crazy line of colored wheels with a fixed/free rear hub. We hope to have them in stock very soon and they will be less than $150 pair!!

Some Scenery...

From the moment we crossed from CA into NV it began to look white and wintery all around. This did not stop all the way to Nashville.

Some of the roads were well taken care of and kept clear... others were not. This proved interesting when towing. What made it more interesting was as we were creeping along trying to stay on the road the semi trucks were batting along at a rate of around 75mph! One thing we had going for us which the semi trucks did not... 4x4 in the pickup. This allowed us to keep it between the lines for the most part.

Some shots of the back of Mt. Shasta... not a perspective I get of it very often as we usually drive down 5 and see the west side of it.

Sun rising monday morning somewhere in Navada I think?

So that's it on the road trip front. I'll get some pictures of the new rig this afternoon and then you'll be able to see the reason for this titanic journey!

The Nashville Dash......

It been a long, hard journey......

Average speed: 60.54mph

Its a long way to go for a bathroom break!

Entertainment Facts:

Comedy is the way to go when you are trying to stay awake !

Nutritional facts

Most popular meal: Breakfast (omelets!)
Most popular drink: Water

Best Meal of the trip: Breakfast, Black Bear Diner, Fernley NV

Cutest server: L McGuire, Ruby Tuesday, Columbia, Missouri

Good Coffee is really hard to find once you leave the "West"

Highway and driving Facts:

Best kept roads: Utah

Folks who live with snow, don't necessarily know how to drive in it !

Largest number of wrecks seen in one trip, so many we lost count!

Fedex long haul drivers are crazy !

When you see a sign saying "Bridges may be Icy" be very aware !

75mph speed limit for everyone makes perfect sense (rather than different speed limits for different types of vehicle)

For all of you who called while we were traveling: Thanks for the encouragement.

For all of you who placed orders while we were traveling: Thanks for your patience

Its now back to business as usual (ish) !

Its been emotional..........

Unrealcycles: Road Trip

We have been getting a bit stir crazy the past few weeks, just waiting for the weather to break.

So when the chance of a road trip came our way we jumped at the chance.

Where are we going you ask?

Well there lies a funny story, we have been looking for another show trailer, and one has become available to us....in Nashville

We are leaving today on a 5000 mile round trip to pick up the new rig

We will be posting new and pictures as we travel

On One 29er Forks

Those nice folks from Doncaster have taken time out of their busy moving schedule and sent us a care package

Included were the ever popular 29er SL Carbon forks but we didn't get very many as the donkey they arrived on only had 3 legs (and one of them was lame!) so if you have been waiting for one of these, act fast

MTBR give Orange Alpine a 10

Orange Alpine 160 review by MTBR receives a 10.

"The Alpine 160 has stamped its authority on the all-mountain test in March’s MBR. Top marks and high accolade for the “Wild Boar” of the group. If you have a bad day on the Alpine 160 “you’ll need to look elsewhere for excuses, as it definitely isn’t the bike”. The conclusion? The “Alpine 160 is undoubtedly the best do-it-all bike money can buy”." -MTBR

Click here to pick one up today: http://mtb.unrealcycles.com/catalog/item435.htm

Or call 800-303-2927 to talk about the spec and build your complete Orange Alpine.

Unrealcycles Support WWL effort

Unrealcycles has long been known for its support of all forms of threatened species, you only have to take a look at our staff to realise the depths of our efforts

So when offered the opportunity to host and support a small family of penguins, we jumped at the chance, a special enclosure was quickly rustled up made from boxes of old shimano parts, and sprockets weekly rations were further cut to provide food.

Imagine the disappointment when they turned out to be virtual !

Now its up to you, keep the penguins happy, and they will make you smile.
